High Public Firewall Activity

So for a little while now Avast has been blocking an unusual number of inbound connections on my ethernet connection that have been made by “System”. The IPs that are being blocked seem to be from all over the place and look like spam. This seems especially likely considering that these connections are being attempted even when no programs that use the internet are running. These connections only appear when connected to my ethernet connection, and not while on the (slower) Wi-Fi.

A few examples:
69.10.30.247
58.22.62.163
69.10.30.247
291.159.5.25
201.159.5.25
58.221.64.43
93.174.83.51
198.20.69.74

All of these are marked as inbound connections being made by “System”, and are flagged by the Public/High Risk Zone rule. Any idea what all this is?

Is this still related to your original topic http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=145559.msg1056376

It is. Removing Skype only stopped the Skype-related connections from appearing. Those being made by “System” still persist.

Anyone?

If you’ve got microsoft’s OneDrive (formerly known as SkyDrive) installed this makes connections to content delivery networks like Akamai and Fastly. This is integrated in Windows 8 by default to synchronize your settings, preferences and info about installed apps. So even you think you’re not using OneDrive, Windows might be using it to sync. Because it’s an integrated feature it’ll show up as system.

It seems unlikely this is the case, considering these connections don’t show up while connected to the WiFi. Also, I’m still using Windows 7.

Is there some way that I can find out what process or service these connections are linked to? What’s it mean to be going through just “System”?
