Hijack This Size

A little OT.
I have had Hijack This for several years and run it weekly.
Most Logs that are posted here hold dozens of items, but mine stays at 9.
If it goes over the nine (all with names I recognize), I usually delete the new one (s) unless I have purposely added it.
Is this usage of HJT reasonable?

That is the whole point there is no constant, HJT shows what is running on a users system and that will differ from one system to the next.

Though I find it hard to believe you only have 9 items. HJT is an analysis tool and generally is only used when you have a problem of an unknown reason, so in that case you wouldn’t be using it on a regular basis.

There are many things that change in your system that you may not have specifically added but may be legitimate. The fact that you don’t know what they are isn’t a reason to get rid of them, have a delve into the system32 folder and there you will find lots of things you don’t know about are you going to get rid of those too, I think not.

So it is the same thing confirm what things are before getting rid of anything.

I assume that you keep HJT up to date 2.0.2 latest as a tool that is out of date is possibly more harm than good.

Hey, thanks DavidR:
I feel a little dumb in that I guess updates that I thought I ran never took and I was working with a four year old program; even the update link was closed. :-[
I did get a 2.0.2 update this afternoon and now have 19 lines instead of 9, but nothing that looks threatening.
I’ll spend some more time with it.
Thanks again.

You’re welcome.

You can post the contents (or attach) of the log file here if you wish and we can have a look at it.

Here is another site to look over your shoulder on updates, http://secunia.com/software_inspector/ ;D
