Hijackthis Log!?!

On advice from this forum, I downloaded Hijackthis but when I ran it, it gave me a message saying if I ‘fix’ certain system files, I may have system performance issues. I have pasted the log below. Can some tell me which files I should fix please? I’m newly infected…

jakryan: welcome to the avast! forum. I see several items that I would question. The best way to proceed would be to go to any post of Eddy and click on the links in his signature for his HijackThis analyzer. It will tell you which to keep and which to fix. Look in the “off topic” section for the “HijackThis analyzer” thread. The directions on how to use it are in the download. Post back here your further questions. We will be glad to help.

Edit: Thread is on page two.

Your system is loaded with malware. No wonder, you don’t have ALL security patches/updates installed. You don’t have a firewall, unless you are using a router with hardware firewall.

Here is the result of my HJT log analyzer:

HARMFULL ITEMS IN THE DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS FOLDER(S) :

\documents and settings\master\application data\dpso.exe
o4 - hkcu..\run: [orae] c:\documents and settings\master\application data\dpso.exe

THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE NOT NEEDED FOR THE SYSTEM TO WORK
PROPERLY. WE RECOMMEND THEM TO BE REMOVED FROM STARTUP :

o4 - global startup: microsoft office.lnk = c:\program files\microsoft office\office10\osa.exe

And you can find the result of the online analyzer HERE

Hi Eddy,

You’re instructions have served my cause well and for that I thank you however I still have an infected file C:\windows\n_qjizcb.dat.

I tried to search for this file using the windows search tool but no luck. What is it?.. Can I find it to delete it without harming anything I need?

I have Zone Alarm installed as a fire wall. Is this any good? If not can you recommend another? I also have avast! as antivirus which I intend to subscribe to in a couple of weeks. Are these good programs?

Thanks Again.

jakryan

Make sure you have enabled “show hidden files” and “do not hide know fileextensions” when searching for that file. If you find it, just delete it.

Awesome - Cheers for all your help Eddy.
