Other than this one, I do not see much to be concerned about …

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)

… but I am no expert and it would be best to wait for another opinion.

That’s very old java, it should be updated.

Open an Internet Explorer (only) window and go to http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp > Scroll down to “Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 5…allows end-users to run Java applications”.

Click the download button on the right.

If Information Bar pop-ups up, right-click on it and say it’s OK to display the blocked content.

You do not have to install the Java Web Start ActiveX Control

Accept the license agreement > Click on Windows (XP,Vista, .etc) Offline Installation, Multi-language and Save the file jre-6u5-windows-i586-p.exe to your desktop; do not Run it. or install it yet.

When the download is complete, Open Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs:

Uninstall anything that says Sun Java, Java JRE, or similar.

Close Add/Remove Programs.

In Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Program Files\Java <=this folder, if found. Delete any subfolders it may contain.

Do NOT delete C:\Program FilesJavaVM <=this folder, if found!

Reboot your computer.

Double-click on the saved file to install the update.

Delete the downloaded installation file after completing the above procedure and reboot if not prompted to do so.

thanks for the help guys

 Hi :

There is a lot more than just an “old” Java ; she’s using AOL"Hell" with its
associated, outdated AIM . Would definitely recommend she visit
http://jayloden.com/aimfix.htm and run the FREE program there, quite
possibly on a frequent basis .
In addition, she has an outdated version of Adobe Reader, and since it
appears to be under frequent “attack” by the Makers of “Malware”,
recommend it be uninstalled and use the “safer” Foxit Reader", which has Info
at www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php .
Since she has a “Dell”, would recommend she visit www.pcdecrapifier.com and
consider using the FREE program there .

Hi Justin_xp,

Consider the analysis here: http://www.hijackthis.de/logfiles/7fceff8825345bd0c3f31a397c0a7a42.html
It will be there for three consequent days from now.

What is Viewpoint Manager?
Viewpoint Manager (viewmgr.exe) is a file associated with either the Viewpoint Media Player or Viewpoint Toolbar. It manages the downloads and updates of the Viewpoint products. According to Viewpoint, the manager program will check for new updates once a day.

Viewpoint Media Player is a browser plug-in that enables users to view rich media content on the web. The player is used for AOL © Instant Greetings, AIM Themes, and other web applications. In other words, its similar to other programs like Flash, Quicktime, RealPlayer and other applications.

The Viewpoint Toolbar is a search application powered by Yahoo!. Neither the toolbar or media player are required by Windows to operate, they are merely add-on programs to the web.

Is Viewpoint Manager or associated programs considered spyware?

Since the Viewpoint programs do not track, collect, or sell information they are not considered spyware.

How did Viewpoint Get On My Computer?

This is probably why you came to this page in the first place, you noticed Viewpoint on your computer and didnt know you installed it. Well, this is because Viewpoint installs itself with various other programs such as AOL ©, AOL © Instant Messenger, Netscape, certain Adobe applications, and other programs on the web that require the media player to show their content.

Now if you are note using AOL © Instant Messenger or any other programs that use Viewpoint Media Player, you should be able to uninstall it without disrupting any applications. In this case, follow the steps below to remove Viewpoint.

How to Remove Viewpoint Media Player, Toolbar, or Manager

  1. Right-click on the clock in your taskbar and choose Task Manager

  2. Click on the Processes tab and search for VIEWMGR.EXE, if its found, click on it and then click End Task to close it

  3. Click on Start, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs

  4. Uninstall any of the following programs associated with Viewpoint

    • Viewpoint Manager
    • Viewpoint Media Player
    • Viewpoint Toolbar
  5. Close the Add/Remove Programs and Control Panel

  6. Restart your computer

Warning: If you install AOL © Instant Messenger, Adobe Atmosphere plugin, or another program that requires Viewpoint, it will download and install again.

polonus

I don’t usually worry to much about viewpoint, especially on a machine using Aol. If no Aol, I give them the option.

I use aol for communication with friends i just dislike that viewpoint comes with it

You can do the removal as suggested by polonus, but heed the warning at the end, it may come back.

Yeah, i know comes back everytime i reinstall aim but i always remove it

Friendly little guy isn’t it? ;D

lol yeah its one of those nagging little things you know a bothersome pest
