Hijackthis says Ashmaisv.exe and ashwebsv.exe are missing!

A scan using Hijackthis came up with the following errors

O23 - Service: avast! Mail Scanner - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashMaiSv.exe" /service (file missing)
O23 - Service: avast! Web Scanner - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashWebSv.exe" /service (file missing)

However a check of my Task Manager and Process Explorer show that they’re up and running in the Avast 4 directory and my sent and received e-mails indicate that they’ve been checked.

Any explanations regarding Hijackthis?

Those are just few among many errors in HijackThis. Also it’s been discussed many times in the past in this forum about that issue. It’s something that needs to be fixed on HijackThis side.

No worries, you’re ok, just ignore those entries in HijackThis log file. :wink:

It also does it with some other 023 entries not just avast! as has been said its a HJT 1.99.1 issue, that hopefully will be resolved, but don’t hold your breath ;D

You can check the path for the existance of the files, you should find them there.
