HIPS warning doesn't remember what I chose last time.

HIPS warning dialog has no option to remember my decision, and asks repeatedly about the same actions. How do I get it to remember what I chose, or something else to that effect?

No way to do that

Is it best to just disable the function altogether, then, so I can allow the actions without being prompted by avast each time? How do I do that?

Untick it in the file shield settings.

Well, I thought I had it right, but I don’t.
In the sensitivity settings for the file system shield, under “Suspicious Behavior (HIPS)”, I’ve unchecked the “Monitor the system for malware-like behavior” check box.
I’m still getting nagged by avast, though. Another “HIPS WARNING An untrusted program is trying to modify a protected resource.” I have no idea how to stop this.

  • Which Avast…? (Free/Pro/IS/Premier)
  • Which version…?

Avast Free Antivirus 2015
10.4.2233

Update to the latest version (2016.11.1.2241): https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=178580.0

You can set HIPS sensitivity to the lowest value (1/3), or disable “Monitor the system for unauthorized modifications”, if you dont know, what these messages are or you dont want to answer these questions.

I’ve updated to 11.1.2241. The program’s main screen has changed, but the options in the file system shield seem to be the same.
I don’t know where the “Monitor the system for unauthorized modifications” option is.
The sensitivity of the HIPS scan is set to low already, in addition to unchecking the box.
I don’t want to leave my system vulnerable, I just want to be left alone when a program I’ve repeatedly authorized before does what it does.

The “Monitor the system for unauthorized modifications” option isn’t there now, it would have been in the avastUI > Settings > Active Protection > Sensitivity. The only option there is “Monitor the system for malware-like behaviour”

this just started happening to me after the last update. this sux. :o
