home version key problems!!

iv had avast for several years now with no real problems updating the package every year via new key…but avast is telling me my version is about to ‘expire’ on the 1st march 09…iv requested a new key and entered it in, it says ‘successful’ i click ‘OK’ and continue, i even do a restart to be sure…but when i click on ‘about avast’ it still shows 1-3-09 as an expiry date??? >:(

i am getting the little red box pop-up warning me on this?! please help as i don’t want to get rid of avast:((

Hi celtboy, and welcome.
This should be fairly easily resolved, firstly, what program version of Avast are you using? (Right click tray icon, select “about Avast”, look at the top for version no. and build.

thanks for your time,

4.8 home, iv updated all avast stuff, and it is updating automatically as well.

And the build number?

4.8.1335 sorry:(

Dang. Well, this happened to me once, I re-installed it and it worked OK. Seems a bit drastic to suggest as a solution, though.
Did you try going here for a new key? http://www.avast.com/eng/home-registration.phpIf no joy, see if this one makes any difference.https://secure.avast.com/scripts/register.php?lang=ENG
Sorry if this sounds a bit wishy-washy, I’m none too experienced with this issue.

well iv tried 3 new keys and still no go!

if i un-install and re-install can i use same e-mail address? is there a link to support??

thanks from eire!

Yes, use the same email.
To uninstall, don’t forget to disable the self-protection option (settings>troubleshooting) and stop on-access protection first.
Use the uninstall utility http://www.avast.com/eng/avast-uninstall-utility.html after uninstalling. Then install the latest version, and hopefully it will all be sorted.
(Be offline while doing all this, of course, download the uninstall utility first.)

I am also using Home edition 4.8.1335.

I just tested the registration key process and it updated the expiry date without a problem.

Before you try the longer uninstall/re-install please try the repair option in the avast uninstall path (add/remove programs).

If you do need to go down the uninstall/re-install route then you can use the same e-mail address.
