Hot Deals! HEEEEEELP!

It’s NOT a pop-up, it looks like a SSL “Slider” that comes out of the right hand side of the browser window. It’s adware. No matter what I’m shopping for it slides out (it has a tab to slide out and in with angle brackets < - > as the “controls”) and I can “close” it, but no matter what it pops back up and it’s in my face.

Tons of pages on this sucker already up by the “just buy our malware killer!” guys. I did a full (detailed = SLOW) scan of my entire system and Avast didn’t make a peep. First time in what, TEN YEARS Avast missed something on my machine?

Anyway I can’t be the only guy with this bug. Please help!

hey and welcome to the forum.

if you mean the popup when shopping it can give you places that have the item for a better price it is a additional function that have been added to avast for the latest or the release before that.

this function called safe price. it scan the web for the same product you looking for and if it finds it to a better price it will display it for you on the too of your web browser.

if you don’t want it you can disable the addon avast online security in your browser.

hope this information helps you

good luck

Could you attach a snip pic of the slider you see? Could it be this? (WOT page for safety as one would not want to visit this Trojan Killer site) https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/trojan-killer.net?utm_source=addon&utm_content=popup-donuts

Not clear what you have or are afflicted with atm.

@ mikaelrask ;

Yep that’s it. Pardon my ignorance here; I’m NOT used to posting in forums.
Generally speaking I’ll just lurk and search the archives / faq’s etc and find
what I need without “bothering” anybody.

I do see now that I can disable Avast Online Security and it does get rid of that
(What I was calling a pop-up / slider).

Wow. I was really into a browser helper that actively monitored the activity I am
engaged in. I have two problems when it is active. One is this “Hot Deals” thing
which, in software I PAY FOR I feel does NOT belong there…

I’m 57, and have been actively involved on the web, including building it in
several businesses, and the liberties being taken lately astound and disgust me.

Freeware, Yeah, I can see a company attaching an ad driver in the software.
Nothing is really free after all. I spent years with the freeware version of Avast
and have loved and supported the program because I loved the way it worked.
It’s “design” and method of operation was and is brilliant. Buying it…
and getting “Jacked in” adware sucks.

Would that I could just disable the ADS (and choose when to use it) without
disabling the entire browser helper. Makes too much sense? or not enough dollars?
lol!

TWO (I said two things wrong with the browser helper) it slows down the browser
download time immensely at times, on certain sites. Facebook is a tragedy when
it is operating, and I stay in touch with far flung family and friends with it so…
ONE OF THEM has to go!

It’s a shame. btw I do have fast broadband and when I disable the Avast ad in (sic)
the “slow” problems magically disappear.

And I paid for this… Wow.

Thank you gentlemen for your help and I shall be more active in the future. I can
and will become a valuable poster since I’ve used Avast for many years. I’m not to
the Guru’s you guys are but I can help.

Thanks so much,

Joe Turzanski
