How can I avoid port conflict with another program

Hello, can someone please tell me how to avoid the message (see below) which appears when I check my emails.
I do not want to disable ‘onspeed’. Please do not tell me that this ? has already been answered without pointing me in the right direction.
Thanks RH.

Sorry attachment did not attach. Message reads -
“Another app is listening on the smtp 25 (pop 110) port(s) ONSPEED smtp (pop) email features will be disabled for this session. To reenable them, find the other app using port 25 (110) disable it, then restart ONSPEED”

edit avast4\data\avast4.ini file, find the section [MailScanner], there shoud you find

[MailScanner]
PopListen=127.0.0.1:110
SmtpListen=127.0.0.1:25
ImapListen=127.0.0.1:143

change it to some other values, I recommend
[MailScanner]
PopListen=127.0.0.1:12110
SmtpListen=127.0.0.1:12025
ImapListen=127.0.0.1:12143

Thanks, please confirm that these settings are ok for version
4.5.523. Did you mean 12125 (not12025) for smtp?

Sorry for querying your suggestion - I have tried your settings and ‘ONSPEED’ now works ok without the conflict message. However the ‘clean message’ note no longer appears in sent mail. I have checked and this option is enabled.
Is there a simple way to check that incoming mail is being indeed being checked?
RH.

  1. Is the avast icon (the special one of email scanning) be shown in the system tray?

  2. Is your email header with the lines X-Antivirus: avast! (VPS 0XXX-X, XX/XX/2004), Inbound message and X-Antivirus-Status: Clean? (Right click the message, choose Properties and Details)

  3. Are clean notes added at the bottom of the email? (Internet Mail provider settings)

1,The round ball icon with an A shows in the system tray, and says 6 providers total 5 running.
2, I have right clicked on an incoming message and details - there appears to be no reference to Avast.
3, there are no clean notes on incoming mail or outgoing.
RH.

Is MS Outlook plugin ‘waiting for a subsystem to start’?
Do you use MS Outlook or The Bat or another email client?

So your emails are not being scanned

But did you ask (set) it so?

I am using outlook express, there are no messages to the effect that the substation is waiting to start.
If my emails are not being scanned, this is serious.
I have always had the option to put a clean message into outgoing mail activated.
The on access scanner screen ‘internet mail’ says ‘the provider is currently running’
RH

In one of the threads, sorry don’t find it - the problem was solved after stopping the Outlook/Exchange provider - so if it this provider is running, pls try to stop this one
