I distribute some software that avast! is now autosandboxing. Is there something I can do to prevent this? Is there a way to determine why it is being sandboxed? The software is used in civil engineering. I’d prefer to avoid digitally signing if possible.
First I’m an avast user and not an avast employee.
Digital signing is just one of the criteria for recommending a file/program be run in the sandbox (location may be another, but I don’t have a list of what is checked for.
Without a digital signature it is already one down and if other criteria are also positive/found it is more likely to be recommended to be run in the sandbox. Users can obviously elect to run it normally and remember the decision (effectively excluding it). But I would imagine it would be very difficult to have it considered for possibly addition to known programs if it isn’t at least digitally signed.
