How can I re-license using v4.8 free edition

My licence is about to expire but I don’t want to upgrade to v5 free edition as I cannot afford to experience any of the problems (ie time lost through sorting out gliches - OS Vista) that users are talking about in this forum. I have tried to find v4.8 to use it again but am unable to locate it as all clicks take me through to v5.

I am thankful for the forum where I could peruse opinions and problems before jumping into v5 and now prefer to wait until it has been around for a bit more time and maybe get a smoother download.

I hope it is still possible to use the old version. Thank you

As an exercise I have just tried to find it again myself from the Products page and even though I got further than yesterday I still have not landed at the page you sent me.

Back to the situation…To carry out the renewal successfully do I now uninstall my about to expire programme and then re-install it to get the new licence number?

Or can I download it on top of what I have?

You don’t have to uninstall or install it again. Just enter the new licence key.

Go to the avast home page:

http://www.avast.com

On the left tabs click on “Home and home office”.

Under “avast! Free Anti-virus” click on “Learn More”.

Scroll down to the tab sheets. There should be 1 white tab and 3 black tabs:

“Why choose this product?”
“Technology”
“Compare products”
“Version 4.8”

You will probably be on “Why choose this product?”.
Click on the “Version 4.8” tab.

Thanks fellas… must be my challenge for the year - to stop thinking literally and try a bit of the lateral stuff (and make a habit of scrolling to the bottom of all pages if I am looking for something.)
