how can I report a web address that tried to upload malware to my pc?

Hello ,Im new to this so keep that in mind…I have avast free edition which is awesome!! I was surfing the web (not PORN) and a page popped up with all kinds of virus warnings etc.—it looked like windows security— I quickly disconnected the internet and wrote down the exact address in my browser and did a boot scan which came back clean,so I put the address in my explorer address bar to see what would happen and it started to auto download something. Is there a way to report this address or do something about it???

Yes, post it here with hxxp: instead of http: (i.e., not a living link).
But if avast detect it and protect your computer, why would you want to report it? Do you think it’s a wrong detection?

Tech: Avast did not detect it according to the OPs post…

???

with all kinds of virus warnings etc.---it looked like windows security---
Rogue / Fake virus warnings i guess.....

Well… then run a full avast scanning (or boot time), check with MBAM…

I suggest:

  1. Clean your temporary files.
  2. Schedule a boot time scanning with avast with archive scanning turned on. If avast does not detect it, you can try DrWeb CureIT! instead.
  3. Use MBAM (or SUPERantispyware or even Spyware Terminator) to scan for spywares and trojans. If any infection is detected, better and safer is send the file to Quarantine than to simple delete them.
  4. Test your machine with anti-rootkit applications. I suggest avast! antirootkit or Trend Micro RootkitBuster.
  5. Make a HijackThis log to post here or this analysis site. Or even submit the RunScanner log to to on-line analysis.
  6. Clean your Hosts file (replacing it) with HostsMan tool.
  7. Disable System Restore and then reenable it again.
  8. Immunize your system with SpywareBlaster.
  9. Check if you have insecure applications with Secunia Software Inspector.
