I have the AVAST! anit virus software Version 4.8 Home Edition build 4.8.1169
I forgot what exact version I had so I clicked on About Avast in the menu and I could not see what version I had. Where can I find this information please ?
I also installed the 1201 newest version but could not find a Simple User Interface to run the anti virus program on. I later uninstalled it.
I really do not like the fancy skin or whatever it is called, that the 1201 comes in. Does this version have such an interface and if so, how do I switch it on ?
I have even forgotten how I managed to switch on the SUI on the version I have now. So can anyone remind me how to do it in case I need to do it again in the future please ?
Right click on blue “a” ball in tray > “About avast!..” > scroll up to “Build:____”
From memory (so I hope it’s right!), If avast! is anstalled, go to “Control Panel” > “Add/Remove Programs” > “avast! antivirus” > “Change/remove” > choose “Change” (“Change installed components”) > uncheck the “Skins” box.
If not installed, run the installer and uncheck the “Skins” box.

The "fancy skin" as you call it, is the simple interface.
Vladimyr, there is a much easier way:
Right click the blue ball, program settings, general, remove the checkmark in front of “activate skin for simple UI”
I went over to Progam settings and under Common tab there were two boxes which are NOT ticked. These are :
Enable skins for Simple User Interface
Enable skins for Explorer Extension
When I click on START AVAST ANTI VIRUS, What I have is a window at the top of which
there are the words TOOLS SETTINGS HELP printed horizontally which are drop down lists of various commands.
So what is the correct term for the interface that I have ?
What is the Explorer Extension all about and where can I activate it ?
Thank you.
The name is in the Title Bar of the window, Simple User Interface (SUI), the difference being that is the skinless version of it.
Checking the Enable skins for Simple User Interface option in Program Settings with run the skinned version of the SUI, where you can select one of the three options or download more.
The explorer extension is enabled by default (explorer right click context menu), the Enable skins for Explorer Extension, just uses a nicer skin than the default skinless version.
Yes, the gif shows what I have !! Thanks for showing it.
So what I have is called the Simple User Interface.
And if I tick the Enable Skins for the SUI box, I will have the music system type of interface.
Thanks again David.
