last version Avast announced by a popup there was a newer version. How come it did not do it now?
Other than opening the program and looking at main screen I would have no idea it needed an upgrade. Most users configure it and forget it unless of course it catches a virus.

it takes about a week (or 2 no idea exactly) until all Avast users get notified about a program update. It’s impossible otherwise, for server load obvious issues. Can you imagine more than a hundred million users (or so…) attempting to upgrade at the same time ? …would take the servers down in no time and nobody could upgrade ;D … as to catching a virus because you haven’t upgraded yet, you still get automatic VPS updates don’t you? yes.
There used to be a program update cycle of 7 days so that the server load could be balanced over the 130 million plus users so they aren’t swamped. It used to be the luck of the draw as to where you got filtered in, day 1 or day 7. That may well have changed but I don’t know what the current update cycle is.
