How did this get here? [SOLVED]

Rather then go through a story I’ll cut to the point. I was working today and decided to check a few things and noticed Google Drive was randomly installed on my computer without ANY of my consent. I also installed !Avast a few days back and it didn’t appear then it just appeared today. So I was puzzled looked it up and apparently Avast randomly installs it. What I wan’t to know is. Is it possible it installs days after the installation (I looked through a few logs and !Avast’s setup accessed the internet at 5:35PM which is the same time Drive appeared). Also what is Drive used for and why was it installed on my machine?

A few minutes ago I installed avast 2014 (final) and it did not install Google Drive.

I also installed !Avast a few days back and it didn't appear then it just appeared today
Why didn't you solved the problem a few days back?

since i dont know, i did not answer that one…

if you use google / Gmail…G-drive is nice to have…
if you also use Android phone / tablet you get auto saving of your phone / tablet photos to the drive :wink:

I don’t understand the question. If it’s why didn’t you mention this a few days back it’s cause it only appeared today. If it’s why didn’t you have !Avast it’s due to me replacing my old AV with Avast.

It might be nice and all but I don’t approve of not being told it was going to install this to my machine.

Did you select “custom install” ? If not, that can be the reason why it is installed.

Completely custom install. Also it happened 3 days after installation. Though it still used avastsetup.

Hey Para Noid already done and done. I know !Avast installed Google Drive so I’m just going to stop worrying about it.

Did one update from the UI (win7 and 8.0.1497) and another install 9.0.2006 (custom) over the top of 9.0.2005 RC3.

Neither ended up with any google product, google chrome or google drive.

It’s called being careful and using the custom install. :slight_smile:
