I seem to have acquired a blog poster on blogspot.com. How do I block this dude/dude person from accessing my gmail account. I know, I should be asking on Google. Have you tried asking anything on Google?
Thanks :),

what do you mean accessing your account?
if it is a mail, mark it as spam

It’s not mail or I would have marked it as spam long time ago. It opens as soon as I open Firefox but the Firefox support forum has yet to come up with an answer. I mentioned Google only because blogspot is a Google product.
I’m assuming there IS a way to block urls using Avast, am I not correct? Unfortunately I can find a tutorial in the Avast HELP that tells me precisely how to do so. Might anyone on this forum know how to perform this simple function?
Pardon my sarcasm,

I’m not sure if Site blocking is working in this version… (could be a bug)
Avast UI>Settings>Active Protection>Web Shield (click wrench icon)>Site Blocking>[check]Enable Site Blocking>Enter full URL.

Please, describe your issue again in a way that makes sense.
- What are you doing when the alleged problem occurs
- What actually happens
- What you think should happen instead.
If unable, simply post screenshots, step by step.

Makes sense to whom? I’ve stated exactly what happens above. When I open Firefox I get the Firefox home page AND a blog page (url listed in first post). It’s the blog I want to block. It seems ever so simple: I copy the url of the offending blog, then where do I paste that in Avast to block the blog.
Please excuse me, but I think that’s fairly clear. If it isn’t, kindly forward this to someone who can read.

You stated “accessing my gmail account.” Now it’s broken Firefox settings instead?

P.S. Chill out, I’m a user helping in my free time. Not my fault you are not able to describe problem.

I’m chilled. The problem is clearly stated in the Subject: “How do I block http://weeklycareeradvice.blogspot.com” Is there, or is there not, a page on Avast to which I can go and enter the url “http://weeklycareeradvice.blogspot.com” so I can block it from showing up anytime I go onto the internet?
Thanks,
BAB
There is a great extension in Google Chrome that will just do that for you and all the other urls you want to block so they won’t even return in your search results.
For install of the Personal Blocklist extension, go to https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/personal-blocklist-by-goo/nolijncfnkgaikbjbdaogikpmpbdcdef
After installing left click the white hand in the red circle icon Click in the drop down menu on import, then give in http://weeklycareeradvice.blogspot.com and you are done,

another option is to use OpenDNS and you can add sites you want to block in the dashboard

Thank you, Alikhan. I’m sorry, but I must have overlooked your reply earlier. My apologies, and thanks for informing me of precisely the screen to use to add a url to a block list.
And to the rest, thanks for your advice, and if blocking the url doesn’t work I’ll be back to complicate your life further :).

The real problem is not blocking it.
The real problem is why it automatically opens.

@Doktonoter: Thanks for the input, and I’ve reset Firefox more than once in the past. It never fixed my problem but did make me reenter my small bunch of add-ons. Thanks anyway though.
@Eddy: You could be right, but I couldn’t find any malware. Thanks, though.

It would not surprise me if one of the add-ons is causing it.
