How do I check if it is a false positive?

Avast 5.0.462 is giving me a positive for CVE-2009-0658 in five PDF files from different sources. I suspect it is a false positive, but would like to make sure, and don’t really know how.

Virustotal flags it as a virus by three of the checkers, two of which are Avast. The others are clear.

Any advice on how to proceed? Thanks.

send files to avast in a mail with subject " false positive " zip and password protect the files, and write the password in the mail

I guess nr #3 is Gdata ?........they use avast and bitdefender virus engine
