Is it even possible?
I would like Avast! to scan/protect my Gmail account.
Would also like to know how to do the same for facebook and hotmail
Hi drahcir,
Disable https using the account settings in your mail client. Then check this list to see if avast mailshield automatically decided to provide https encryption: user interface > real time shields > mail shield > expert settings > ssl accounts. If not, add the mail host manually.
Mail shield will now do the https encoding/decoding your mail client normally performs.
If you are using webmail from within your browser, you need not turn of https encryption.

Thanks Kwartet,
I still don’t know how to disable encryption on gmail, facebook, and hotmail.
Anyone?
Avasts mail shield can only scan email if you are using an email client such as ( thunderbird or outlook etc ) if you are accessing your mail directly via the web then your mail is prechecked and scanned by gmail - hotmail
Facebook has nothing to do with the mail shield and will be scanned by the web shield and network shield.
Facebook is protected by the webshield…it is scanned as normal webtraffic
same are your mail accounts if you use webmail
hotmail/yahoo/gmail all have protection on there mail servers so all mail is scanned before you see it
you should find lots of info using a forum search as this has been asked many times
Sidenote: https (secure) traffic can’t be scanned by avast! (or any other antivirus), as it is encrypted.
