How do I disable scanning of certain folders/drives?

Hey,

We’re running Avast Pro in a small network of two computers. Our financial system is heavily used on both machines - where one of the machines serves as host for the database-files of this system.

Since installing Avast it takes a lot longer to both open the program and perform standard procedures inside it. Also the automated backup function takes forever now. It used to take roughly 1.5 minutes. Now it takes almost 10 minutes.

I assume this is because we installed Avast and Avast is probably scanning all files shared between these computers.

Therefore I would like to disable the scanning of network drives and the specific folder containing the financial system.

Is that possible - and if yes - how?

Thanx.

Also, I forgot to say that since installing Avast it also takes forever to log on to the computers. It loads all icons by the clock at the usual very fast speed, but the Avast icon has this little red thing on it for almost THREE minutes. When it disappears the computer is usable.

Any way to speed it up?

The computer runs XP Pro, and is a P4 2.8 GHz with 1024 RAM.

Just add the folder (or files) to the Standard Shield exclusion list (on-access scanning) on both computers.
Left click the ‘a’ blue icon, click on the provider icon at left and then Customize.
Go to Advanced tab and click on Add button…

Maybe if you add the files of the startup programs (that you’re sure is clean) to the Standard Shield exclusion list as I’ve posted before.
