How do I do a scan
First, I’m an Avast user and not an Avast Team member.
You don’t say what Avast Program you are using ?
The question is a bit lacking in detail as there are many thing that Avast can scan, I think you may be talking about running an On Demand scan of your system ?
Why do you feel the need to run a scan ?
On-Demand Scan
- Open the Avast User Interface > Menu > Settings > Protection > Virus Scans
- there are several different scans for you to choose from. You will also see a Smart Scan as an option, this one which is more likely to suggest other paid options.
That said:
- With a resident (on-access) scanner the need for on-demand scans is much depreciated. For the most part dormant/inert files are being scanned, the other active files are going to be scanned by the resident shields when they are activated.
At the end of the scan aside from what it has found, it is likely to offer other paid options for anything it perceives as a weakness or vulnerability.
