In this case the program semms to be safe as the download is done via CNET.

And CNET sais the following about the downloads they provide:

All software on CNET Download.com is tested, scanned, and monitored frequently to assure it is free of spyware, adware, viruses, and other malicious programs.

Next time, you might also try a search for reviews on whatever is your interest.

In the below results, I simply searched by entering … Artisteer reviews … in the Google search box.
