How do I format my computer, FOUND THE PROBLEM

Ello, I’ve had problems with my comp and stuff. And I decided to format it.

But my mum forgot how, Off course… And I’m trying to find a guide, But there are none that are useful. Some are 3 line sentences and others just tell you to backup data, which is not what I wanna do.

ok, I found a good guide, but

When I get to the Creating a partition, what number should I put for the MB?

My harddrive is 250gb

When I get to the Creating a partition, what number should I put for the MB?
That depends entirely on the reason or use for the partition you intend to create. Unlike in the the old days, partitions are a choice not a must.

I want it the same as now it is now, Without the infection :stuck_out_tongue:

Basically for games. by the way is there a way to reduce lag >.^??? without getting a better connection.

Just ask if you need me to get something ??? :-\ :-X ::slight_smile:

Hi…

What is your computer’s “make and model” and did it come with a restore CD(s) when you purchased it?

If not, does your hard drive have a restore partition? If so, it is VERY important you do NOT do any repartitioning! :o

Best Regards…

Hi

What is your computer's "make and model" and did it come with a restore CD(s) when you purchased it?

Make and Model? I don’t think it has any, just the windows setup disk and utilities

I don’t think so, Repair Partition?

hope this helps a bit.

Thanks RN

But, I don’t need to back anything up. There’s nothing important. I’m just looking for the steps when creating the partition, How much space to put. Well, the number I should put in

Why do you want to partition the drive ???

Unless you have a need to divide your hard disk into several partitions, just create one partition which uses the entire hard disk.

So the answer to your questions is the maximum number you can enter.

hi, it’s been awhile since I’ve had to reformat, but can you not tell it to take the whole hd or 250,000 mb? In other words create 1
partition. hope this helps

Hi…

Click on “My Computer.” If you have a restore partition on your hard drive, it will most likely be labeled as " D:" drive and the word “Recovery” or something similar as its title. Do you see this on your system?

Best Regards…

I like Computer Management in Manage to see the partitions:

:-\

I just want to wipe everything, have 1 partition. A fresh Copy.

So, What amount of MB do I type

That will make 1 partition with maximum size.

I believe the last little bit of 8MB is reserved for Windows bootup.

What will?

I’m making a fresh one, deleting the one I have

Why don’t you buy and install another hard drive?

Because that’s not necessary, A format deletes everything… So tell me. What point would buying another harddrive serve?!!

and you say that you have a 250GB harddrive?

because in this widow you can see that it isn’t anywhere near this number…
do you have a second harddrive?

i think that there could be a problem with the compatability and the windows installation CD - is this an XP-installation disc without any service pack?
because XP (without any sp) can’t detect big HDD while installation if you don’t give it the needed drivers…

so this one listed there seems to be a smaller HDD and not the 250GB one - so its not possible to install widows there (hasn’t this problem already been there once?)

or is this picture actually yours?

yours
onlysomeone

You forgot the picture >.< nevermind. That’s just a picture of the net

But anyway, I found out the problem. It was avast crashing my comp when it detected something. I gotta find another av :-\

the hard drive is that circle in c drive properties right? 250gb
