How do I get my old account back? I was running under (marc-d-l) but it will not let me go under this.

I just signed in with my usual name and was given the option to change my password which I did and it worked.
Is your my.avast.com account the same as your forum account ???
Everything is the same,except now I have a new account .I want the old one back.Would uninstalling and reinstalling do it?
You may login new Forum under your old account nickname(=now “display name”) with the following transaction:
Click MyDevice => Input E-mail address (=now this is the user name) & Input password => Click sign-in button → New Forum with your old display name and old posts. Good luck!

No. The account is with avast not the computer.
Try sending a PM to chocholo.
We have one evangelist who had the same issue and it took several days to clear it up.

At the bottom of the index.php (forum home page) at the bottom is a list of users and Type of User, there is Administrator, clicking that would list those in the Administer group, since there is only one listed chocholo.
Clicking his user name gives a sub-set of his profile, you may or may not be able to PM him as previously there was a 20 post restriction on using the PM function. If this restriction has been applied you won’t be able to PM.

Were you logged in when you tried to access that or chocholo’s profile, if not then you can’t access any users profile.
I suspect that, the 20 post restriction to access the PM function may be in force.
Yes I was logged in,and couldn’t access.I guess I should just give up.I am not going to post 20 useless post just to get back in the forum.
