Hi strawb.
Download hijackthis from here: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download5554.html
Place a full hijackthis log in your next posting as an attachment txt file,
we will have to analyze that and then apparently have to fix some 09’s I presume.
After that we will have to run CCleaner downloadable from here: http://www.ccleaner.com/download
Put it on your desktop but do not use it as yet,
polonus
You have done the right thing, ‘first do no harm’ don’t delete, send virus to the chest and investigate.
There is no rush to delete anything from the chest, a protected area where it can do no harm. Anything that you send to the chest you should leave there for a few weeks. If after that time you have suffered no adverse effects from moving these to the chest, scan them again (inside the chest) and if they are still detected as viruses, delete them.
hey where abouts do i click on to download it?
Hi :
Perhaps it would be easier if you went to
www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis to download the HijackThis
program !?
And it would be a lot SAFER if you got "ATF Cleaner", available from
www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/ ( IF you have Vista, pay attention
to the Info at bottom of page ) , rather than "CCleaner" that has a dubious
"Registry ( Cleaner ) " .
i have copied and pasted the log file:

Hi strawb,
Your hijt log seems clean, you can fix however this empty entry:
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)
Start HJT flag the entry and give an enter to fix.
The trojan contains an Adobe Flash ActiveScript which injects JavaScript code into the viewed webpage. Malicious JavaScript adds HTML to the currently viewed webpage.
Results include Drive-by downloads, Pop-up ads, and JavaScript alerts.
Several of the advertisements have been aimed at promoting rogue antispyware applications.
While Adobe Flash is a multi-platform application, the end infection is directed towards the Win32 (Windows) platform. Probably your av-software prevented the drive-by downloads, and the malware vector to be initialized.
Adobe Flash is a common media container for banner advertisements. The trojan have been observed on several large News websites where the Flash have been shown from advertisement networks. The News sites have reacted quickly to remove such malicious Flash files.
Now tick “Select all” inside ATF Cleaner to clean all the crap from your computer,
polonus

It’s safe in the chest, it can do no harm there. when you delete it from the chest, it won’t activate.
By " i have dun system restore but its still there" do you mean in the chest or still on your computer.
im not sure if its still on the comp but it is still in the chest

Hi strawb,

Results include Drive-by downloads, Pop-up ads, and JavaScript alerts.
Several of the advertisements have been aimed at promoting rogue antispyware applications.

Adobe Flash is a common media container for banner advertisements. The trojan have been observed on several large News websites where the Flash have been shown from advertisement networks. The News sites have reacted quickly to remove such malicious Flash files. You have to update your Adobe or Flash
application software, you can surf the Net using Firefox version 2.0.0.12 with the NoScript add-on that protects you against the various Drive-by-Downloads and ABP to block the ads and alerts.
The Trojan downloader infects temporal files like C:\Users\Mikro\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Low\Content.IE5\BOJ86R5Q\gnida[1].swf
After an Internet session clean out the temp files with ATF Cleaner.

Hi strawb,
As you said at the beginning of the thread it is in the virus chest, it won’t bite you there, and it cannot do any harm just like a prisoner in a cell, leave it there for a while, and then safely delete it,
pol
