I got win10 and Avast free edition. Take a look at the screen shot and circled in red is an Avast updater program that keeps coming up in the background. How can I hide it when I multitask in Windows?
I have never seen anything like this, certainly not (in that location) with the Avast Software updater, that as a toaster popup bottom right and that doesn’t look anything like the nondescript popup you have.
An enlarged image of just the popup may assist, rather than what appears to be a full screen image.
That still doesn’t show the Avast popup you’re complaining about
Avast"s DriverUpdate doesn’t pop up. You need to select it and start it.
Please post the actual Avast popup.
The Avast Driver Update is a paid product, I don’t even know if this is included in the Avast Premium antivirus.
I never selected it in my Avast free installation, yet there is an icon in the AvastUI > Performance section. If I click on that it rightly says it has to be installed, when you try to do that you would probably get directed to avast payment.
I have never seen this activated on avast free.
What avast version do you have ?
As I posted, this is the only image that comes up when I multitask in win 10. When I select it, it doesnt materialize at all. Looks like it just stays in the background.
Repair Avast:
Control Panel> Program and Features (Add/remove program)>Select Avast> Select Repair. Reboot when completed https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB204
If Repair doesn’t fix the problem, try the following:
Clean Install of Avast: https://goo.gl/4Ptzkf
I don’t know why it would even be in the background, given it is a paid option why would it be running if it isn’t installed. Definitely one for the developers as I certainly haven’t seen this.
I just wonder if there isn’t some sort of interaction with this other program that pulls it out of the background, but then again I have no idea why it would be running anyway given this is a paid version.
It’s time they sorted this mess out, it is bad enough paid options icons being in the free UI and possibly worse Stand Alone options in the free and paid versions. Especially so when I/users make a point of doing a custom install and deselect options they don’t need or want.
I wonder if half this cr4p isn’t actually there to run in the background/scans for the purpose of throwing up adverts. Is this a possible cause of the increase in size of the off-line installation file.
Here is the reply I’ve received from Avast: "It looks like he installed Driver Updater already - you can run it and test it (eg do the scan and see how many old drivers you have). You only pay if you want to update it. It should be visible in Add/Remove programs (or Apps and Features in Win10) as a standalone app and it can be uninstalled from there. The empty window indicates that there is no online content for that window or installation was somehow corrupted. "
Driver Updater integration into Antivirus is only the screen in UI. Antivirus installer isn’t bigger, no Driver updater service is running. If user chooses to try Driver updater then the Driver updater installer is being downloaded and executed.
