The new memory leak problem was getting to me, so I switched to MSE. Used the Add/Remove option and as far as I can tell, Avast is entirely gone, but I want to make certain. Any folders to search for and such? I would have assumed it gone entirely, but my PF useage seems a bit high…
You may run avast uninstaller. Download utility from here:
http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility
If there is some avast leftovers, this tool will remove them.
Even the removal tool leaves drivers behind, 3 or 4 of them depending what version you’re running. follow http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/504/how-to-uninstall-hidden-devices-drivers-and-services/
and check the light grey (redundant) drivers google them and un install them, most are pretty obvious and say, for example avast web filter.
You may be fine if you leave them, I have known them to cause inncorrect shut downs with old version of Avast! installed over a newer version. I dont know if the removal tool actually does anything if add remove completes successfully.
You will find the drivers in plug and play area by the way.
Am…no they not.
Uninstall tool remove them all traces. If not, the second best solutions is AppRemover.
http://www.appremover.com/
I have not seen yet remained after avast or app remover.
Btw, after these tools does not need further checking system.
show redundant devices (just selsting hidden will not show them) they will be there, there is no way the program, or the installer can remove them. Again you will not see them unless you create the profile from my link.
I clean many machines up each week they are always there. same with many other av’s after you have used their removal tool. I only know of two removal tools that remove everything and Avast!s is not one of them.
In fact the following is a sticky from another AV forum.
The removal of Avast leaves drivers behind.
Please follow the instructions in this post.

See if that helps.
avast! uninstaller leaves drivers behind? I doubt that.
What drivers in particular?
P C Tools and Symantec in particular leave a lot behind, but not Avast. I’d be interested in the answers Igor asked.
