I disabled the VRDB when things were going wacky with my computer and now I can not find the settings to re-enable it. I opened the avast4.ini file and reset the value of ‘disable’ to ‘0’, but does that re-enable it? I have restarted my computer and the ‘i’ icon has not appeared. The date of the last VRDB is October 6, 2007. What else can I do?
Is the icon not hidden in the windows taskbar ?
Did you merge the two avast icons ?
See the avast4.ini, is this line present MergeIcons=1, 1=merged 0=not merged ?

Select one of the marked options and VRDB will be enabled again.
i do not have a “VRBD” option in that menu. It goes from “updating” to “set/change password”, with no mention of “VRBD.” After I disabled it, I do not seem to be able to access it. Is disable permanent? Maybe I should just re-install?
Erm, what was the point of disabling it completelly? Selecting Disable option in that menu does the job…
Did you not check if the ’ i ’ icon was hidden, did you not try the MergeIcons=1 in the avast4.ini ?
That should place the VRDB option into the menu that RejZoR showed.
If you do, do from the scratch:
- Uninstall avast from Control Panel first.
- Boot.
- Use Avast Uninstall for complete uninstallation.
- Boot.
- Install again the last version.
- Boot.
- Check and post the results.
