I’m trying to update it and keep getting this message when I do:
The license key for this product is invalid or expired
your system time/date is not set correctly; fix it and enter the license key again
your updating license has expired; register again and enter the new license key<<
I’ve been trying to re-register it for a long time now but every time I hit the button to do that, it would
take me to http://www.msn.com/ I have no clue how I’m suppose to re-register my Avast 4.8 there.
I need help ASAP now
PS Wikipedia says:
Registration (Home Edition)
avast! antivirus can be downloaded and used free of charge for the first 60 days but the free Home Edition must be registered, and a license key inserted into the program, if it is to continue to be used after the end of the trial (Demo) period. After registering, a license key is sent by email and once inserted into the program, it can continue to be used free of charge for 1 year[10]. After one year, it is only necessary to re-register and insert a new license key.
I thought Avast would give me notice before my registration expired and I had forgot when it was. Last night I was checking for update and got the same message as above. At first I thought it was an April fool joke but then looked and it was set to expire. Went to Avast.com page and couldn’t find the registration page there at all (I have been known to look and look and then overlook something right in front of my face. So if it is there I am sorry). Then came back to this forum and did a search and found the link Bob posted.
I just wonder why I didn’t get a notice mine was about to expire and why the page is hard to find to re-register.
Unfortunately, the default setting of avast is to show a slider panel and it disappears after some seconds, so, if the user aren’t in front of the computer, could miss the alert. Well, I could be wrong…
Go to the SSL page version and register from there: https://secure.avast.com/scripts/register.php?lang=ENG. The Registration key is valid for 14 months.
Now I’m going through the same process on my 2nd computer :o now and for some odd reason it’s not sending me the license key to the address I used I’m beginning to wonder if something is wrong with the robot Avast is using now?
I did try using the same license key the first time and had no luck with it. Anyhow, I did finally receive my new license key via e-mail. It just took a lot longer than I thought it would to arrive.
Judging by the signature your using, I’m slightly suspicious as to your actual continued posts.
If I’m wrong, I apologize but this is beginning to look more like a clever disguise of a SPAM…
As do his two alter egos all with a similar forum registration time and country flag, they also show the same form for multiple unrelated or copy and paste posts for link spamming.
