How do I remove the avast screensaver?

How can I get rid of this doggone avast screensaver? I DO NOT want the screensaver, but when I click on ‘NONE’, Avast seems to hijack it & puts theirs in anyway.

If I can’t get rid of the avast screensaver, I guess my only alternative is to completely get rid of Avast & go to AVG.

Any ideas or help out there? I don’t have much patience, so I’m not about to spend a lot of time on this.

I think that any program that keeps me from doing what I want with MY computer, is not worth having.

I don’t understand the problem. Why don’t you just select another (or no) screensaver, in the system Display properties?
avast doesn’t hijack anything…

So it just came back? (it was reset automatically)?

Are you saying that that if you change your screensaver, click OK, and then re-open the Display properties, it still shows the avast screensaver as selected?? :o

I should have mentioned I use XP Pro Version 2002 W/SP2

P4 1.60Ghz 1 GB Ram

Don’t know if this info matters.

Suncoastman, you said you does not have much patience, but it’s your computer which is not allowing to change the screen saver.
Just try again, through Video properties…
By the way, how did you uninstall avast?

What if you simply delete (or rename) the avast screen saver file - \windows\system32\avastss.scr?

Technical: I realize it’s my computer which is not allowing me to change my screen saver, but it is AVAST that is causing it to do that.

I’m simply going to uninstall the program from my computer through the add/remove…

Vlk: I uninstalled program, reinstalled it & things are working OK now. Thanx for your help.
