I recently took the computer from Windows 7 to 10 under Windows free upgrade. I saw that my Avast antivirus has a free upgrade which I availed myself to. I now have a computer that not only has no antivirus program but no firewall as well. The account on this computer has administrator only and shows I have full permission to remove the program but won’t allow me to do so. An attempt to repair it fail and I want it off this computer. I have two more running this software that I will make sure to avoid this upgrade about with the “free gift”.
After fooling with Avast and Windows 10 I am not very happy right now.
Edit: I see on the other computer this version is called “Nitro”.
Because I attempted to remove this software I had to use the free download in order to get the controls to reappear in the taskbar. My question is how I go about getting this new application to accept my license for the previous version? I don’t see a place to reinsert it.
I have a feeling that Avast is going to lose a lot of customers like me over this glitch as this should have been caught. As things stand I spent several hours screwing with this problem while not having a firewall, something I didn’t enjoy. I hope in the future the management takes a couple of computers not in use and used a non-public server to see that this stuff downloads properly.
If you read the thread about the bug (which quickly has been fixed), you would know that it was only the message that was wrong.
The protection stayed enabled.
