When I double-click on the a ball, I get a screen with no menus. Under Provider Actions, I have the option to start, pause, or terminate. (I assume this is referring to scanning.) I hit start, and it seemed like it began to scan in fits and starts. Now it looks like it is stuck on ypager.exe and says Scanned count: 61 after 42 minutes.
Thanks for the instructions, Technical. It turns out the problem was using the blue ball in the lower-right corner instead of the desktop icon, which opens the interface with the play button to which you refer.
Another way I just discovered to run a scan is to click on the little up arrow on the upper-left corner of that interface, then select “run a scan” or some such.
