Just to advise that this is my first post on this forum after registering about 1/2 hour ago.
I noticed this forum allows Avatars, but I am unable to find as to how I would go about doing just that. I went into “My Profile” but can not see anything there relating to avatars.
Anther question that could be answered here please. I have included my email address when setting up an account but cannot find out if I am able to get an email notification of a reply or not. Is a notification by email the default setting or do I have to do more, if so how would I go about doing just that?
What are you missing, about 18 posts (you have to have 20 posts), sorry I couldn’t help myself.
The problem comes from drive by spammers, who having registered put objectionable or commercial links in their profile signature to try and gain link promotion, etc.
There have also been cases of the PM function being abused to spam forum members, so you will notice that you can’t use the PM function either.
Unfortunately because of the actions of others legitimate members suffer by the actions to prevent this spamming.
The default setting in the forum is that you should get an email notification of replies to topics you create or contribute, so you should get one for this.
You’re welcome.
I’m sure it won’t take long ;D
As for PMs there should be really little need since this is a support forum, what is needed should reasonable be posted in the forums.
Thanks guys. I was trying to find out the same thing as Janset. Taking the leap to #2 post. Yee Haw. I can still have fun reading and posting without the avatar for now.
I hope I do get 20 posts soon. Well, I’ll need to somewhat flood to conquer that number, or not? ???
You prevent picture spam but you earn text spam. :-X
I have a doubt: I can’t put an ad in my signature but DavidR can put commercial hardware and software names on it?
The information we put into our signatures is there to help troubleshoot issues. It shows what other possible conflicting hardware and/or security software you’re running. I guess it could also be viewed as recommendations.
