Avast keeps wanting to remove the Swagbucks toolbar (the only toolbar I use), YouTube Video and Audio Downloader, and the Classic Explorer Bar which is part of Classic Shell.

You do this: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=150802.0

avast! wouldn’t classify add-ons if there wasn’t a reason for it.

That being said:

f you don’t want browser clean-up, it’s simple enough to remove from:

Control Panel > Uninstall a Program > avast! > Change > [untick] browser cleanup.

That will remove the browser cleanup module from avast!

Not true.I’ve reported at least 5 add-ons which were whitelisted since they were perfectly fine.
Rating system based on Avast community is stupid.

Garbage its complaining about perfectly good addons and if they are bad then it uninstall them unless you change your home page to bing or yahoo. No better than blackmail. Goodbye avast.

you can remove any module you dont want…

ad / remove programs > avast > uninstall / Change > change > untic whatever stuff you dont want

Yes, I did this and while there I also unticked Grimefighter and Software Updater.

Peace, perfect peace.

Hello, I wanted to say that you could be wrong on what you are saying about avast wouldn’t say something if there wasn’t a problem. I am a computer tech and have been one for over 25yrs and I have been recommending avast and also using avast since they started distributing their software. I have had many times seen when avast thought that it found a virus and it was just some tools that I use to repair corrupt filer. Right now I am having a problem with avast browser cleanup, It is telling me that i have 5 or so browser addons that are suspicious and ask me if I would like to remove them,. If I say yes then avast ask’s me which browser home page i want to replace mine with,. It doesn’t offer to replace mine with the original which is google it only has two which is bing & yahoo. First of all I do not have any of the addons that it says i have on my computer secondly , Browser addons do not usually have any thing to do with addons. This is happening in a payed latest version of avast antivirus. Like I said before I have used avast for a long time and I cant believe that they would stoop this low to try to make money off people that dont know much about computers and have them install browsers that they should not have to replace in the first place, Just so they can make a buck… I sure hope that screwing people isn’t the write way to go. Sorry this is so long, but it pisses me off to see companies ripping people off

Take care

Glenn your strongly worded “my or the highway” blurb is wrong and it’s time for you to retire.
Avast’s browser cleanup for firefox addons has no basis on threats or flaws.
Sadly it appears to be based on some (non-tech savvy) people’s opinions of if they liked it or not, or based on the number of people who removed it.

I use the Mozilla approved “Classic Reload-Stop-Go Button”
Under browser cleanup it only says “the addon has a poor rating”…
…so avast offers no explanation, and tells me nothing useful either.

I also use “Print Preview Button” 0.5 by sindre-wimberger
browser cleanup also says “the addon has a poor rating”…
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/print-preview-button/?src=userprofile

and yes I removed and reinstalled them today.
Sadly avast updates reinstalls or re-enables grime fighter and browser cleanup
