How do I turn off all the Avast spying? I just googled a phone number from an unknown caller and I got a popup asking me if I was tired of spam calls blah blah blah…

No, what I’m tired of is being spied on!

When my computer boots, do I know why it takes so long? why yes, yes I do! It takes so long because Avast is in the background doing a bunch of crap it shouldn’t be doing (like checking for software updates) or calculating the number of passwords avast can find on my system or any number of other things it shouldn’t be doing.

avast isn’t spying on you.
What you saw was just a promotional ad and as has been explained many times in other threads already, you can turn them off in the paid version of avast.

If you don’t want avast to check for software updates (which b.t.w. only takes a few seconds), remove the software update component.

avast isn’t calculating the passwords on a system at all.
