I keep getting web shield popups. I really don’t care to be constantly shown I was protected. I want to turn these pop ups off. I cannot find anything or anyway to turn them off. They are so intrusive that I am considering uninstalling the Avast software
I really don't care to be constantly shown I was protected. This is not normal, this indicate that you have some bug(s) in Your computer that try to Connect to malicious websites
For malware removal help, follow instructions here https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0
when requested logs are Attached, a malware expert will assist you

You should follow the direction by Pondus
If you’re infected, cleaning the infection will STOP the notifications. ![]()
Can I ride in on this topic? I was going to have to ask the same (or similar) basic thing.
It isn’t necessarily anything on MY computer doing this, but paid advertising on a site I just decided to visit that’s doing this.
I use the block website feature because it’s a real pain in the butt to have a website pop up telling me I have something wrong with my computer or I need to update my flash player, then when I want to close the window - they’ve got some scripting - that blocks closing the window for 2-3 tries.
If AVAST is opening a window - just to tell me they blocked a window from opening - what’s the point?
I might just as well deal with the bogus website as the app that jumps up saying we blocked this.
My computer has been scanned 8 ways to Sunday. It is clean.
I don’t need a window to pop up to tell me AVAST blocked a site from opening a new window. If I’m going to have to close that AVAST window, I might just as well deal directly with the bogus “upgrade your flash player” - “clean your windows errors” sites.
Thank you
Exactly why buy a product to keep virus & malware off my machine then it lets the malware infect my machine and then tell me to download 4 programs to remove it. Why did I spend 20 dollars for ? A piece of crap software who cant keep malware off my machine. I have used the free avast for years without any problems so I thought I would invest in the full version for my new computer. I should have paid the fee for McAfee that came with this PC. You can rest assured that I will NEVER buy another piece of avast software EVER. I Will tell my friends not to buy your crap software and in the newsletter of my ham radio club what my experience was with your shitty software.
art15 no antivirus programs are 100% efficient in blocking/removing malware and other threats and no antivirus programs are not 100% in detecting/not detecting false positives. Hence users like me and other experts in this forum recommend a secondary/backup anti-malware program such as malware bytes antimalware and superantispyware. I having been using the free version of avast since the 1st version of Avast 7 I haven’t come across false positive till present and still on Avast 2016. I also have superantispyware and malwarebytes antimalware forum. Trust me, I have come across very few false positive from malwarebytes antimalware and I confirm it if it’s true/false by scanning from Avast and superantispyware.
Telling from experience, I have used many free and paid antivirus i.e. MSE, Panda Cloud Antivirus, Trend Micro, and McAfee. I have choosen Avast and will stick to avast for good. It’s protection feature is top notch including customer service, top-notch help that you get from Avast team, and other experts such as Pondus, schmidthouse, and other users like them, and finally top-notch Avast support assistance. Nothing in my mind or the experience that I had previously with other antivirus can’t beat Avast :).
I suggest you follow the steps that Pondus explained about attaching logs for malware removal and in that way, malware experts can find a solution for it and eliminating the threat(s).
The real problem here is the lack of knowledge.
As Staticguy said, there is not application in the world that can detect 100% of the malware.
It is plain and simple.
Only after new malware has found there can be developed a cure for it.
Be glad that avast detected that there is (very likely) malware on your system.
Sure it would be great if it was possible to create a cure for everything that is still unknown, but that is not possible.
Turning of the notifications would not make sense.
Let’s say your car tells you that there is almost no full left.
Turning of the notification is not the solution.
Going to a gas station and fill the tank up is.
Without having had a look, I would say it is the users at fault here (again)
Using a account with admin rights for daily use while there is no need for it.
This gives malware the change to install without the user noticing it.
Using a other av is no solution at all.
Others can’t detect everything either.
Since the systems seems to have some minor malware on them, the most logical thing to do is to remove it.
We are here if you want help removing it.
Follow the instructions in the link Pondus provided.
