How do i update my antivirus to windows 8.1 without purchasing it again?

Sorry for my ignorance but anything but the basics throws me so any help would be appreciated. I currently have Avast internet security for windows 8 but my laptop updated a month or so ago and although I still get notifications updates whilst online and it says I am secure I happened to just check if there any PC issues and it says that I need to update avast to 8.1 as it isn’t covered. So how do I do this without purchasing the licence again as when I followed the link I come to having to buy it? Also how do I find my actual licence as I have been through the list of headings and I can’t find I? Many thanks in advance for anyone who has taken the time to read this and given any guidance.

Save a copy of your license file that you got, license.avastlic, it may have a date in the name, but basically that is what you are looking for.

If you can’t find it then got can use the - Resend avast License http://www.avast.com/resend-license-paid.php, you will need to enter the email that you used when purchasing the license, e.g. the one that the original email with the link was sent. And use that in the same way you used the original.

Download and save the AIS: 9.0.2011 - http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_internet_security_setup.exe file and use that when you install avast.
