Dear members,
Please how do i upgrade my functional, unexpired avast 4.0 professional to avast 5.0 pro,as the 4.0 that is on my system has not expired?Morover, does avast 4.0 pro still has a 5year licence at a go for sale?
you should be able to just install it on top of the old version, it will then read the license info from the old 4.x
http://www.avast.com/en-no/pro-antivirus if you look on right side, just under the blue “Add to chart” button
there is a “Add PC or Year” link, if you click it you get a dropp down menu to the left
The current version is avast!6 ???
I have been using avast for seven years and I have never heard of a 5 year license, the longest legitimate license has been for three years.
There would be little point in renewing an avast 4.8 Pro license as it is not going to have support for much longer, whilst no firm date has been given (originally meant to be end of 2010), so it is effectively on life support.
So as Bob mentions avast 6.0 is the latest version; you should download that, uninstall avast 4.x Pro, reboot and install avast 6.0 Pro. You can’t directly use your old 4.8 pro license it has to be converted for use with either avast 5.x or 6.0, see below.
The only reason not to install avast6 would be if your OS doesn’t support it, e.g. win9.x or winME.
- avast! 5/6 Pro license convert from 4.8 Pro license. Try http://www.avast.com/resend-license.php now, fill in the form giving your email and 4.8 Pro License key and they will send the new license file to you (presumably it will check you have a legit 4.8 Pro license first).
