How do you see the files that were "unable to scan" - Resolved

When I run a scan I see that there are a number of files that are “unable to scan”. There are no viruses, nothing has been moved to the “chest”, but I cannot find a place where these unscanned files are listed.

I understand that “unable to scan” does not indicate a problem, but I would like to know what they are.

Can anyone tell me how to see what these files are?

Thanks.

Check the log file(s).

Eddy,

Where is that located? The only thing I see is “reports” which state 4 files unable to scan, but no specifics.

Thanks.

Ordinarily they used to be displayed in the at the end of the scan ?
You could check the Scan History and see if they are retained there - AvastUI > Protection > Antivirus - scroll down to the Scan History button.

If there is nothing in the Scan History, you could check the logs as Eddy suggests. However the log (report file) is unlikely to contain this information unless you change the default report file settings to include ‘Skipped items.’

Check the C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\report folder for the file - scan name.txt
You may need to change your windows explorer folder settings to view hidden files and folders.

DavidR,

Thanks for your response. I checked under Preferences, but see no options to do that. I am on a Mac so that is probably the difference as you mentioned something about Explorer.

Appreciate your trying.

If you are on a MAC, you have posted in the MAC forum.
This one is about avast for Windows.

You’re welcome, I’m pretty sure it is the difference in the Avast 4 Mac (my systems are all avast for windows).

Try the Avast Mac Security sub-forum.

Thank to all. Didn’t realize this was a Windows Forum…duh !!! Must of missed that description someplace. Appreciate being directed to the correct forum.

Thank you. Yes, I found the answer “on the correct forum” and was successful. Such a simple thing. Wish it had been mentioned in the Help files.

Appreciate your bringing it to my attention.
