Hello! This morning I was browsing around on the web when I got a warning about a trojan that was attempting to be downloaded into my computer. I quickly clicked abort, but then I absentmindedly closed the window without reading the details. How can I view it again in the Log Viewer? I found the warning in the Log Viewer, but it only provides the first line of it in the description, and right now I don’t know how to open the whole thing up. I’ve only had avast for about a week now, so I am very unfamiliar with how to work it. Thanks ahead!
I think the malware was caught by Webshield and you drop the connection to that site, i.e., your computer is clean and avast blocked the malware even before it was saved to disk.
If you expand the column into Log Viewer you can see more, but, indeed, only the event is logged.
Can you post the website link you were visiting? (edit http:\ to hxxp:\ to not make the link live to click).
You can also directly check the source file using notepad C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\log\Warning.log
In the avast Log Viewer - There is only one line for each entry, you need to expand the column to see the complete text of concatenated columns.
- To Expand Column Width, hover the mouse pointer over the column header divider until the pointer changes (see image) left click and hold down the key whilst dragging the pointer to the right.
I believe it came from a pop-up rather than directly from the site directly. But I think my problem is now solved, since now I feel more assured that I’m safe. I ran a scan earlier set on thorough and everything came out clean. Thoughts about malware make me apprehensive. Thanks so much!
No problem, glad I could help.
