How do you?

How do I get avast to let me let a program run. Everytime I try it it gives me the warning thingy and won’t let it run. It’s a program that lets you record keystrokes. Thanks for the help

If you add the file in the advanced section of the standard shield that should fix the issue.

1.Double click the A icon in the system taskbar.
2. Click Details (if you don’t already have it set to show details).
3. Go to Standard Shield.
4. Click Customize
5. Go to Advanced
6. Click Add
7. Type the path of the folder/file you do not want scanned.

Ok well I tried this and it still pops up the alert… what now? I’m open to any suggestions

What path did you enter ?

You would also need to enter it in Program Settings, Exclusions so it isn’t detected on on-demand scans.

Ok I’m greek on this thing. Where do I find that at?

Well Justin posted step by step the procedure ::slight_smile: ::slight_smile:

I understand what Justin told me to, However I have done this and when I reboot my system it still gives me the warning and won’t let the program run.
When he said program settings I guess that’s where I am not following what to do? Can anyone out there help me?

Right click the avast icon, select Program Settings, Exclusions, that however, is only for on-demand scans not on-access, which is what is detecting this.

You still haven’t answered what path you entered to exclude the file causing the problem ?
What is the problem file name and where is it located, e.g. c:\program files\YourProgram\problem-file.exe.

Then tell us what you entered following the steps given by Justin to exclude the file in Standard Shield, this is the only way we can tell if you entered something correctly or incorrectly.

We can’t tell what you are doing wrong if you don’t give us an example.

The file is C:\WINDOWS\system32\

That isn’t a file it is a folder name.
But what is the file name and what did you enter for the exclusion ?
If all you entered in the exclusion lists then it won’t work. So we need to know exactly what you typed into the lists ?

Without this information we are in the dark and wasting each others time.

What is the file name that avast detected and won’t let run ?

what do u mean by saying “i’m greek on this thing”?

It’s an expression and simply means that he doesn’t understand it’s meaning.
“It’s all greek to me.” = “I don’t understand it.” or, “It’s all foreign to me.”

oh…ok…just asking…the “i’m greek on this thing” from “It’s all greek to me.” seems a bit different though…
