How does Avast update in Android?

I have recently installed Avast on my Android device and was wondering how it updates? Unlike the pc version where you get notified I haven’t seen any notification and was wondering how it is updated.

Hi,

if you mean virus definitions updates, they are being applied automatically just as in the PC version. You can set up the automatic updates in application Settings as well as see your definitions version there.

If you talk about the application itself, it is being updated (automatically) by the market you installed it from.

So does it mean that it keeps the update on the phone or does it connect to the server and scans from there?

It’s on the phone so you don’t need any Internet connection to scan your device. You need the connection to update the definitions only. They are being updated at the same pace as is the PC version (usually 1-2 updates per day).

Is it possible to update the virus definition without internet connection?
As in download the virus definition file offline and copy to the android device for update.

This is cos’ I have some devices that is totally cut off from internet.
