How does Web Shield work?

I am a new Avast user. My question is about the new Web Shield. The Web Shield screen says the provider is currently running although there is no port number in the redirection box. Am I protected during web browsing even though I am not redirecting traffic using Web Shield?

I read the help file. Just to be clear at the risk of being labeled a dunce, the redirection box is to be used with servers and not web browsers, correct?

Eddy, I get only a prompt about a missing program shortcut that way. :frowning:

Starting Avast’s user interface and pressing F1, I get a Finnish language program help window. Only there is not available any information about WebShield.

Cause of the localizations are maybe not so often done with help files, it would be really GOOD to have an english language online help file available in some web site.

As of now I really dont know too how it works, or where to make some changes regarding Sygate proxy issue as someone in this forum adviced.
All because that damn help about Webshield is missing.

There are some languages that do not have a update helpfile (yet). Translators are already working on it.
You can switch to the English language and use that helpfile.

Did not knew it could be changed that easy. Did not know that Avast supported multiple languages at the same time. :slight_smile:

Now I can change language on the fly, Finnish when helping my dad etc. and when reading this forum I can have the latest information available with english.
