I’ve quite a tech question about webshield. How does it intercept firefox traffic?
Firefox proxy settings panel is not modified.

It doesn’t need to be modified (transparent) as avast intercepts HTTP calls to port 80, the content is downloaded as normal but goes through the web shield localhost proxy where it is scanned. If clean it is passed to the browser cache and firefox can then display the contents.
