Hello to all! I need to configure some on mirrors. situation: adnm in head-office. have few branch offices in different cities with few tens of comps each. connection between offices unstable and low-speed. all comps in all offices consist in 1 domain.
in that situation i want to use mirrors to each city. But, as i know, upgrades on clients may be from any mirror. Can i attach specific group of comps to specific mirror? if it is possible, how can i do this?
So the connection between the headquarters and the branch offices is unstable/low-speed? In this case, it would be better to have a separate AMS in each branch office, wouldn’t it?
I think about this, but i try to test that in my office. But there a appear some problems. A don’t know, that problems, but i feel, that some problems appear.
Then another question: if i set up separate AMS in each branch office and connect with console to root AMS, can a saw all comps in branch offices and comps, which subscribe to root AMS together?
And i wish to upgrade this feature in future! I want that Mirror have some configuration or config of groups in AMS, as in configuration in group propertities with selection of mirror, which accessible in AMS settings. I think it detail no hard to realise! :
Well, that’s what I’m saying. If you use the multi-AMS model, you will be able to manage ALL the machine from the headquarters, but the individual computers will not need to communicate with the headquarters because they will have their private AMS. Also, they will be fetching updates from their private AMS (which is on their LAN)
The multi-AMS model is (IMHO) a good choice for you, even though it’s a bit complicated to set up. Also, for the replication to work properly, the connection between the headquarters and the branch offices has to be online at least some part of the day (you can specify at what time (and how often) the replication will take place, exactly).
That model is good, but i think is not work as i wish. If i set multi AMS model, i think i will must to connect to each AMS directly from console to manage them. And if there are 15 AMS i must to reconnect regulary to other AMS? To try this I set up one more AMS with MSDE. Make replication. subscribe new AMS to root AMS. Turn on listening port in MSDE. In my primary AMS in gruop propertities, in which placed comp from another office, change ip of AMS to new AMS. But as i understand, some of AMS hide those comp. Because in root AMS comp is offline all time. In new AMS this comp with black symbol (offline), but value of ‘last communication’ display correct time of communication and every 10 minutes refresh (as default value of communication) - it mean, that comp connect to new AMS, but not correctly. In manual i read, that in one subnet few AMS can hide comps from other. But in that case i have different subnets: my (172.16.x.x) and other (192.168.x.x). What problem it can be?
On root AMS logs from filial’s AMS not appear, and comps from filial’s AMS not visible. Please describe, how it be work with multi AMS. Thanks.
Also i have one little problem: when replication is done, one group change name - to her name add about 8 digits. Before replicate it’s name ‘Billing’. After ‘Billing_14622331’. Is it a bug? And each time rename only this folder. In tree about 15 folders.
