How may I have avast silent?

I installed Avast 4.8 home. Is there a parameter to keep it silent whenever the database is updated?

Yes, you can go to settings (rightclick Avast-Symbol in the taskbar → settings) → Update → Details → Silent

No, that will not work. Setting it to Sielnt only means it will not popup any progress dialogs when update is manually initiated.
You have to uncheck the checkbox marked with red circle.
After you do this, avast! will not display blue popup and will also not play any sounds after update process.
