[b]HI i have a very important & usefull excel file that avast destroyed by avast 4.8

Restore the backup copy that you have, you mean you don’t backup important documents ?

avast doesn’t destroy anything, but scans and alerts to infection, so are you saying that avast alerted on this .xls file ?

You also don’t say what Excel version you are using ?

You don’t say what the error is, presumably you get an error when trying to open it ?
Try searching on the error message.

Have you tried your friend google ?

I somehow doubt 5.0.594 will make any difference to your particular problem, but it is best to have the current version.

Have you not tried any of those links I gave ?

If that file has infected macros, avast remove them. It could happen a damage…
I use Excel sheets with macros and avast only scan them, without harming.
As David said, the solution is a backup restoration.

Well still no answer on if avast even alerted on the file (nor any of the other questions asked), which I somehow doubt as the end result would be different (a file in the chest is the recommended action in 4.8 or what ever action the user chose) and meisam never mentioned anything about an alert.

Have tested the xls file on VirusTotal, zero detection
