I’m using the firewall from Avast Internet Security 5.
I’m trying to allow communication on a particular port (45631) in order to allow an iPad to communicate with my desktop to stream videos using a program called Air Video.
I tried going to Expert Settings > Packet Rules
and adding “Allow” Protocol (TCP) Direction (In/Out) Address (blank) Local Port (blank) Remote Port (45631) but that doesn’t help (the firewall is still blocking me from connecting to my desktop). I also tried setting 45631 as the Local Port, and that didn’t help either.
Anyone have any ideas?
The FAQ on the Air Video site says: “Make sure that your firewall is not blocking Air Video. Try temporarily disabling the firewall to see if this is the cause of problem. In case you are using a 3rd party firewall (like Kerio) try disabling it too. If disabling the firewall helps you will need to configure exception rule for Air Video Server. It needs to be allowed to listen on port 45631/TCP.”
I started a topic on the Air Video forum too ( http://www.inmethod.com/forum/posts/list/855.page ), but it’s less likely that anyone there would be using the same firewall.
