How to ask IE8 not to pop this window up?

Please see attached. I don’t want IE8 to improve my experience.

How can I tell IE8 not to pop this window up? “Ask me later” is not a stable solution.

I think I saw that once right after installation and the first time I used IE8.
Certainly don’t see it any more.

Hi 224141

‘improve my experience’ in this case means that Microsoft deems IE8 to be a better option than IE7.

If you do not wish to go with IE8, then you opt to stay with IE7. My preference is to go with IE8.

I cannot remember offhand each page in the IE8 install process, but I tend to choose Custom install and opt out of Search Suggestions and Accelerators. I agree to Updates and choose to retain my existing home page, which is set http://google.co.nz (my local) in Internet Options in Control Panel.

On the same page (Internet Options in XP) I also set my default search Settings - google as default Search Provider listing 1 (and often Bing as listing 2 if it is there, but I dont go looking if it isn’t, and I remove Live or any other listing - personal preference - I do like Bing though). [screenshot below)]

The Settings page in Internet Options XP is basically the manage add-ons page for IE [screenshot below], so you can also opt for toolbars, extensions, Accelerators, Filtering here as well (I often add Live.com translator, because I like it). I’m sorry but I don’t have a computer running Vista at hand, but you should be able to find what you want yourself, or someone on the forum will advise.

I also go to System Tools (Start–>Programs–>Accessories–>System Tools) and remove the entry Internet Explorer(no addons) if it is present, since the entry appears unnecessary. And sometimes it is entered on the Start menu in XP, so remove from there as it is needless far as I can see. Again, not sure about Vista.

Now, how to stop the pop-ups if you want to stay with IE7. Possibly uninstall IE8 if it is in Add/remove Programs. But best to wait for advice from someone who prefers not to opt for IE8.

Each user of the computer is asked about it.

I have not seen that pop-up in more than a year.
