how to automatically delete viruses?

hello,
when I download emails, the application is scanning for viruses and when it finds a bad attachment, I get a popup asking me if I want to delete it. I would like it to just automatically delete any attachmnet that might be bad, so I don’ thave to click all the popups. I looked thru all the settings and couldn’t find a way to do this. Can it be done?
thanks,
gary in vermont

PS. for some reason it seems to find a lot of “netsky” viruses

If you get so many virus attachments that they become a pain, perhaps it is time to review your security practices.

These advanced automated options are only available in the Pro version.
You only have a limited option in the Home (free) version, to send the infected file to the virus Chest (silent mode, with general answer no, see below).

My own feeling on this is you should use the default interactive action. This way you know exactly what is going on with your system. If you are getting so many warnings, that you want to automate this process, I believe you should review your security practice - filter emails at source, delete from server rather than download them, review the sites they visit, who you give your email to, etc.

See the avast help file, Resident Protection: Internet Mail Provider Settings - “Advanced” Page.
Click on Internet Mail and then on Customize.
Go to Advanced tab and select Silent Mode and the General answer No.

Does that work for the full scan or just the resident scanner? If not, is it possible with the full scan?

It does not work in Home version for on-demmand (full) scannings.
No, only in Professional version (see picture here: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=13315.msg112285#msg112285).
In Home version you can check the option “Don’t show this window again” as soon as the first virus warning appears, and click on “No action” button. This way, nothing will be done and you will be presented the results at the end (and you can perform actions from there).
In the Professional Edition, you can configure the task to perform automatic actions (or, don’t do anything).

It is available for other on-access scanners, namely Standard Shield and Web Shield as Tech says it isn’t available for the on-demand ‘full’ scan, the Pro version is obviously more flexible.
