how to block website advertisements with Avast Pro

I just installed Avast Pro and there were no problems. However, I thought I would be able to use it to block web page ads (other than pop-ups). I used to have Trend Micro Internet Security and it had a setting that allowed me to block these ads. Is there a setting that will allow me to do this with Avast?

Did you remove Trend Micro completely before installing avast!?

avast is an antivirus (antimalware) only, does not have antiads features…

Which browser? AdBlockPlus is a free addon for Firefox. K9 is a filter that could block advertisement pages also.
